Steven N. Sours

As owner and Chef of the Montour House Cafe and Tapas Bar, Steve Sours brings decades of culinary experience to the town of Montour Falls, New York.  A native of Horseheads, NY Chef Steve's rich background includes catering around the country as a Chef, Pastry Chef and Restaurant Consultant. 

Steve's passion was ignited when he toured the country working with top chefs such as Chef Hans from Austria, Chef Jils from France, Chef Everett from Squaw Valley, California, and other Chefs from around the world.  Steve began his career at the well known Pierce's 1894 Restaurant in Elmira Heights, NY.  An apprenticeship as a Pastry Chef at Pierce's along with attending Johnson and Wales Advanced Standing program allowed him many opportunities for professional growth.  This experience cultivated his real passion in the culinary realm and launched a journey that toured around the country for the next eleven years.  Refining his talent for pastries, breads and specialty cakes in resorts that included Weekapaug Inn in Weekapaug, Rhode Island, Grand Lake Lodge in Grand Lake, Colorado, The Gasparilla Inn on Gasparilla Island in Florida and most recently, The C Lazy U Ranch in Granby, Colorado.  Steve's pastries have been a part of many functions attended by celebrities and dignitaries, such as Hillary Clinton, former President George W Bush Sr., and Governor Jebb Bush; Coach John Fox and Jack Del Rio of the Denver Broncos, (In 2013 he made the wedding cake for Warren Buffett's niece) as well as many others. 

His experience at high end resorts kept his interest in travel, fine cuisine and pastries an adventure.  In 2014 he decided to bring his talents back to his home state and launch his own establishment - the Montour House Cafe and Tapas Bar.  Steve's enthusiasm for creating fresh dishes with distinctive ingredients separates this cafe from other local establishments. 

It is here that Steve and his family have brought the culmination of talent, skill and creativity to be experienced by locals and tourists alike.
